Abstract
One way to quantify the impacts of human occupation on the hydrological cycle is the use of computer models, which allow the generation of simulations of flood hydrographs from precipitation events for different scenarios of land use and occupation. These tools can be used in order to assist stakeholders in the management of water resources. Therefore, this study evaluated and compared, by physiographic parameters, hydrographs generated for two different years (1985 and 2020) of a watershed. To assess the change in land use and occupation of the basin, the database provided by the MapBiomas platform was applied. The results showed that there was a change in the occupation of the surface of the basin, with an increase in the Curve Number of 1.87% from 1985 to 2020. The generation of surface runoff, consequently, increased by 6.28%, represented by the increase in peak flow observed at the outflow of the hydrographic basin. Based on the results obtained, it was possible to quantify the impact of anthropization in the Xanxerê river basin on the generation of surface runoff, demonstrating the efficiency of the application of hydrological models as a tool to assist in water resources management.
