Abstract
Indoor gaseous pollutants, formaldehyde (FA) in particular, pose a significant threat to both cultural heritage preservation and human health. Adsorbent-based methods are widely used and stable for gaseous pollutant removal. However, traditional adsorbents suffer from competitive adsorption of water, which compromises removal performance under indoor conditions. Al-PDA metal–organic framework (MOF) materials exhibit strong selectivity for FA over water, enabling high FA removal efficiency in indoor environments. In this study, we developed a MOF-based air filter, and the FA removal performance of the MOF filter was systematically evaluated under various test conditions, including different air velocities and pollutant concentrations. The MOF filter was found to exhibit a self-recovery capability after short resting periods. This self-recovery property suggests that an intermittent operation strategy may be a promising approach for application of this MOF filter. The results of this study highlight the promising application of MOF materials for indoor environments.
