Abstract
We discuss examples of anholonomics - changes in global variables resulting from a cyclic variation of local variables. The examples here are taken from classical mechanics. Not only can a point mass configuration shift its rotational state while the angular momentum remains constant, but the centre of mass can also be shifted - if the underlying configuration manifold has curvature.
