    Abstract

The mutual coupling in antenna arrays for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar is calculated using the far-field of specified sub-volumes in the antenna array structure. The far-field calculations are based on full wave simulations in CST Microwave studio using the transient solver. In this way the far-field radiation can be simulated from specified parts of the antenna structure. Based on these simulations, 3-dimensional mutual coupling coefficients can be estimated, and are in turn compared to an existing method estimating the mutual coupling matrix, which is not angle-dependent.
