ANALYSIS OF CIRCUITS WITH MULTIPLE COUPLED LOSSY TRANSMISSION LINES.

    Abstract

    The analysis of coupled lossy transmission line structures like microwave directional couplers and filters, 3-phase power cable networks or a databus is not simple. In this paper it is shown that the admittance parameters for the 2N port network, N coupled lossy transmission lines form, may be found using a set of almost arbitrary (orthogonal) quasi propagation modes instead of the true modes, if the up-per frequency is so low that the electrical length of the lines is smaller than about 1/3 of the wavelength for the propagation mode with the lowest phase velocity.
