An LMI Approach to Fixed Order LTR Controller

    Abstract

    In this paper the problem of optimal QTR H-infinitynorm approximation of an LTR controller with specified poles isconsidered. A structurally predefined fixed order LTR controller isintroduced which has the same dimension as the number of transmissionzeros. It is shown that the design problem can be reduced into anequivalent convex optimization problem involving LMI which can be solvedefficiently. We demonstrate the performance of this LTR controller bycomparing it to a functional observer based LTR controller of the samedimension.
