Kristiansen (1963) has discussed the convergence of a group of iterative methods (denoted the Equipoise methods) for the solution of reactor criticality problems. The main result was that even though the methods are said to work satisfactorily in all practical cases, examples of divergence can be constructed (at least for the simplest iteration schemes). It is shown that by a small modification of the method it is possible to prove convergence in a well-defined group of cases, including one-group diffusion theory.
