Abstract

A new secoiridoid glucoside has been isolated from Gronovia scandens L. (Loasaceae), namely 6-beta-hydroxysweroside. The structure was mainly elucidated by spectroscopic methods. Fuertesia domingensis, another species from the subfamily Gronovioideae appeared to lack iridoid glucosides. The chemical relationships between Loasaceae and Hydrangeaceae is disc cussed.
