    Abstract

An improved two stage structure with partial power regulation concept is proposed in this paper. The partial input power is regulated by a pre-regulator, while the full input power is transferred by a high frequency and high efficiency LCLC resonant converter. It serves as a second stage and operates as a DC transformer (DCX) to boost the input voltage and provide galvanic isolation. The proposed architecture facilitates reduced secondary device ratings of the active clamp flyback (ACF) converter. A 24-32V input, 432V, 432W output isolated dc-dc converter for photovoltaic applications is built to verify the effectiveness of the proposed circuit structure. The peak efficiency of 96% is achieved with 278W/inch3.
