Abstract
The fault detection and isolation (FDI) problem is considered in
this paper. The FDI problem is formulated as a filter design
problem, where the faults in the system is estimated and the
disturbance acting on the system is rejected. It turns out that
the filter design problem can be considered as a standard Loop
Transfer Recovery (LTR) design problem. As a consequence of the
connection between LTR and FDI design, it is shown in an example
how the LQG/LTR design method for full order and a
proportional-integral observer can be applied with advantages in
connection with FDI.
