Abstract
The possibilities of implementing an active boom suspension is
investigated. The performance improvement of an active suspension
over a traditional passive one is studied in simulation, and shows
a significant improvement. A closed-loop control system involving
two ultrasonic distance transducers, a hydraulic actuator and a
lead compensator has been constructed and tested in the field.
