Accessibility as indicator in sustainable transport planning

    Abstract

    Currently efforts are made in many countries to develop transport planning in a more sustainable direction. In the international research project SUSTAIN national sustainable transport planning is developed in a research programme over four years from 2012 to 206. One of the important indicators applied in a new SUSTAIN Appraisal Framework (SAF) concerns accessibility, and the paper describes and evaluate an accessibility index and methodology POINTER as concerns its relevance for SAF. POINTER is demonstrated on a Danish national transport infrastructure project. Finally conclusion and perspectives are given
