    Research output: Patent

    Abstract

Systems and methods are disclosed for polarization insensitive equalization of transients in an optical signal. The input optical signal has an input signal center frequency and an input signal bandwidth. The method includes passing the input optical signal through a non-linear optical waveguide to obtain a self-phase modulated optical signal. The method further includes filtering the self-phase modulated optical signal by a band pass filter. The band pass filter is centered at the input signal center frequency. In addition, the band pass filter has a band pass bandwidth equal or at least similar to the input signal bandwidth. The filtering results in a generation of equalized output optical signal.
