Abstract
Experiences from use of solar cookers in India and many other
places are different. But the story which is based on a field
study in Gujarat state of India shows that during last twenty
years there has been a tendency that many families do not continue
to use their solar cookers. The study shows that the tendency is
related with the lack of compatibility of this new technology
(solar cooker) with the everyday real-life conditions of the
families. In principle the findings are supported by an evaluation
report on a solar cooker project in Burkina Faso. The conclusion
is that the user should be involved in the solar cooker
technological development process.
