Abstract
A multiwavelength RZ optical source with equal amplitudes and pulsewidths is successfully obtained by using wavelength conversion in a nonlinear optical loop mirror consisting of a common dispersion shifted fiber. The converted wavelengths of the eight signal pulses are in agreement with the ITU-T proposal and a commercial arrayed-waveguide grating is used for demultiplexing in the frequency-domain. By using the new source 8×40 Gb/s WDM transmission over 55 km conventional fiber was realized.
