Abstract

We investigate unrepeated transmission with EDFA-only amplification and demonstrate an order of magnitude improvement in energy per bit compared to an EDFA-Raman hybrid scheme using 32-Gbaud probabilistically-constellation-shaped PDM-16QAM WDM data in a fully loaded C-band.
