    Abstract

    Since laser cutting was invented the application of this technology has been steadily growing. The growth has been in terms of systems installed in industry, in growing market potential due to development on laser sources, on processes and on production technology. The development of the laser cutting process will be summarised in the paper and the current trends and potentials will be outlined.
