UV Based advanced oxidation technology for improvement of water quality in RAS (UVOXIRAS) (39902)

Project Details

Description

Problems related to geosmin and MIB are of significant importance in aquaculture and create problems with off- taste in fish products, a problem that needs to be solved to make intensive commercial RAS more widely distributed and more economic feasible.

The present project involves two commercial partners Ultraaqua A/S an industrial provider of UV solutions for water treatment and Aquapri A/S a large Danish commercial trout (pike perch) farmer as well as DTU Aqua.

The overall aim of the project is to minimize purging time in tanks as well as minimize overall geosmin occurrence in RAS, additionally the project evaluate on UV desinfection and effects on larval and juvenile fish physiology and welfare.
