Use of Vision in automation system

Where the main emphasis in the research in digital image processing until now has been on development of advanced methods for off-line image processing the department has chosen to focus on image processing methods, that are capable of rapidly extracting the necessary information for solving automation tasks. Emphasis is given to experimental verification of the methods and the execution of sub tasks are done so generally applicable methods are analysed and designed. This is important in order to make future use for vision technology easier available for the industry and not characterised by on-of kind solutions and development but by engineering
practice.
