Use of drones in connection with optimization of solar heating plants

    Project Details

    Description

The aim of the project is to elucidate if a drone with infra-red camera can be used to quickly determine the flow distribution in large solar collector fields. In order to achieve high thermal performance of a collector field it is important to have an even flow distribution in the field. Today is is time consuming to clarify if the flow distribution is even.
Further, expertise on the use of the equipment will be gained. This expertise can be utilized for future investigations - both for research projects and for student projects - to identify weak points of thermal insulation in buildings, district heating pipes and insulation of large heat storages for solar heating plants. Also errors in large PV plants might be detected.
