The project is concerned with the development of tools for determination of uncertainty in coordinate metrology. An expert system based on prior knowledge is developed. The development covers enhancement of the database covering experimental data, definition of search routines as well as comparison procedures i.e. neural networks. A second focus point is the development of a deterministic simulation tool using mathematical models for the error propagation in coordinate measuring machines. Finally the project comprises the development of a combined optical and mechanical calibration artefact for coordinate measuring machines.
