Description

The Terahertz project focuses on the development of novel technology for sensing applications in the terahertz frequency range. We use ultrafast optoelectronic techniques to generate, propagate, and detect electromagnetic fields with frequencies in the spectral range from 100 to 5000 GHz, or 0.1 to 5 THz. This frequency range is too high for traditional electronics, and too low for traditional optics. Therefore phenomena in this region are still relatively unexplores. At COM we are able to perform quantitative spectroscopy in the terahertz frequency range.

The project deals with ultrafast carrier dynamics in quantum dot devices, interaction between ultrafast THz pulses and organic material, development of microscopic, integrated THz spectrometers, and integration of THz technology in lab-on-a-chip environments.
