Description
During data acquisition flights the raw EMISAR data are recorded by a High Density Digital Tape (HDDT) recorder at a rate of up to 240 Mbit/s. The (ground based) transcription unit transfers the HDDT data to a medium accessible by standard computers while at the same time pre-processing and reformatting the data to a standard format. The transcription unit is based on an intelligent HDDT interface and a general-purpose computer.
In 1996 the transcription unit was upgraded to handle dual frequency data, to perform an extensive data cleaning, and to undertake the quality assessment of the raw SAR data.
In 1997 the transcription unit was interfaced to the parallel computer normally used for the subsequent processing. (Related projects - see: www.dcrs.dtu.dk).
