The project will analyse the development of engineering knowledge and design concepts involved in the creation of the modern city sewerage system in the last part of the last century. Although it has been possible to reduce pollution from sewerage water by the introduction of still more advanced cleaning and filtering treatments, the use of clean water and the concentration of complex materials in the water leads to the search for new solutions. As modern hygienic culture and the idea of civilisation is closely linked to the development of sewerage systems in urban areas, the project investigates both the technical and social aspects of these developments.
