Sustainable, cost-efficient, and responsive fishing gear solutions under the landing obligation (39578/104108)

Project Details

Description

The project is a follow up on FAST TRACK I, where a functioning and innovative cooperation platform for industry, scientists, and managers is established. The aim of FAST TRACK II is to consolidate and further develop the FAST TRACK platform which serves as an efficient track from idea to implementation of selective gears.

The project builds on a dynamic cooperation between all partners involved in the fishery and this setup ensures an efficient approval procedure according to the EU Common Fisheries Policy. The FAST TRACK platform thereby allows an ongoing development of specialized fishing gears which again ensures the fishermen the best possible economical and biological sustainability under the landing obligation.

In FAST TRACK II, special attention is given to two topics:
- To ensure that the FAST TRACK platform continuously facilitates an efficient development of innovative fishing gears.
- To establish regional and international networks to ensure knowledge sharing on selective gear solutions in specific fisheries. Furthermore, the networks will support a broad acceptance of the attained results.
