    Project Details

    Description

The vision is to establish a Danish world leading consortium in the field of surface coating technology by the development of ecofriendly active compounds for the use in marine antifouling systems.
It is the purpose to replace existing toxic biocides by enzymes and related bioactive compounds in controlled release systems which are ready biodegradable in the environment, and besides, by development of non release bioactive coatings.
BioLocus has already launched a commercial product, CoatZyme® in test marketing in Scandinavia. The product has been shown to be efficient to prevent fouling on yachts and is a polishing water based coating with enzymes as the active compound, replacing traditional biocides.
The direct goal in this project is to develop 2. generation of “CoatZyme” in order to become world leading in environmentally friendly antifouling coatings for yachts.
