Project Details

Description

The project aims to provide technical assistance to promote:
1) capacity building, sharing of protocols for fish production, diseases surveillance and contro,l and professional know-how;
2) strengthen and facilitate the management of aquaculture production;
3) implement an advanced use of GIS techniques;
4) enhance epidemiological surveillance and disease response;
5) limit the use of antimicrobials and Veterinary Medicinal Products (VMPs) in fish production; and
6) diagnostic methods to support fish disease detection and control.

The project is divided into four work packages (WPs):

- WP0: Liaise with partners, promoting collaboration, report drafting, and meetings/event organisation.
- WP1: Geographic Information System (GIS) in surveillance and disease response for aquatic animal disease.
- WP2: Responsible use of VMPs.
- WP3: Diagnostic methods.

The Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie (IZSVe) lead the project and all the WPs activities. Seven other Italian institutes are involved in several tasks for each WP. Three external advisors, including DTU aqua, support the project. Four beneficiary institutes are placed in Tunisia, Morocco, Israel and Cambodia.
