    Description

Within the framework of the Danish Small Satellite Programme, the Department is involved in the development of the satellite communication antenna systems.
The first antenna was developed for the Ørsted satellite and now operates successfully.
In 1999, work began on developing the antenna system for the next mission to be launched in 2003. The scientific objective of the mission requires continous communication between the satellite and the ground station and this places special demands on the antenna system.
Spherical coverage is obtained by employing two antenna elements in a space diversity mode. Each element is a cavity-backed crossed slot antenna which can be flush-mounted between the solar panels on the satellite
