Project Details
Description
Funded by PhD Alliance Program, In this project, an innovative approach is initiated for the storage and upgrading of low-grade waste and renewable heat streams with marginal electricity consumption. This approach is based on a thermochemical principle where the endothermic/exothermic reactions are managed to take place under different physical conditions, mainly different pressure levels, to facilitate the upgrading effect. This project develops the thermo-chemo-mechanical models required for the desired heat recovery/storage/upgrading system to guide material selection, reactor design, and system-level integrations. The developments will be supplemented by a thorough techno-economic-environmental analysis to identify the main cost and performance drivers for future optimizations and improvements.
