Rebuilding Western Baltic spring spawning herring

Project Details

The project aims are to

1) Improve knowledge about biology (spawning timing, areas, distribution of genetically unique sub-stocks, sub-stock specific migrations, drivers) of herring populations spawning in the Western Baltic Sea greater area (Western Baltic Spring Spawning herring, WBSS).

2) Perform quality control and critical evaluation of assessment models, re-evaluate biological reference points.

3) Develop management strategies that incorporate rebuilding plans for WBSS herring.
