Radar mapping of Southern Iceland: processing techniques

    Project Details

    Description

In 1998, 10,000 square kilometres of Southern Iceland was mapped with the polarimetric and interferometric EMISAR system. In this project these data are processed and calibrated. Also, in cooperation with University of Iceland the quality of the generated digital elevation models (DEMs) is assessed and improved using reference data like GPS measurements and photogrammetric DEMs. The project has necessitated research in new processing techniques, e.g. for interferometric calibration.
