    Project Details

In 1995 and 1996 selected areas of Latvia were surveyed with airborne gamma-ray spectrometry equipment belonging to the Danish Emergency Management Agency. The post processing of data in 1997 included calibration of the airborne equipment and mapping of the surveyed areas for dose rates and natural radioactivity. The contamination with cesium-137 from the Chernobyl accident in general was so low in Latvia that it could not be determined by the standard techniques used.
