Project Details
Description
The purpose of the project is to investigate the consequences of the stochastic variation of test results in field and laboratory tests.
The variation of stiffness and strength parameters is measured for selected Danish soils, and the consequences are evaluated by performing deformation analyses by the finite element method, and bearing capacity calculations by means of kinematically admissible rupture figures, on soil layers where the stochastic variations of the parameters are simulated.
This permits the prediction in practice of settlements and bearing capacities of footings given the variations of the soil parameters.
