Postbuckling behavior and imperfection sensitivity of the well-known Euler column in an elastic-plastic realization is investigated by use of an enhanced asymptotic expansion developed by Claus Dencker Christensen. The present study indicates that the method may be applied to more complicated structures than the Shanley-Hutchinson model column, which earlier has been investigated by Claus Dencker Christensen. The predictions of the enhanced expansion agree extremely well with numerical results that may be considered to be accurate.
