Project Details
Description
Quantum-mechanical descriptions that operate in phase space have proved very useful, both for the description of particle motion and for the description of the quantized electromagnetic field.
The project includes: 1. Foundation of phase-space representations; 2. Group-theoretical aspects; 3. The dual nature of phase-space representations; 4. Wavefunctions in phase space; 5. Dynamical equations for phase-space distributions; 6. Analytical and numerical generation of phase-space distributions for oscillators, atoms and molecules; 7. Applications in molecular dynamics; 8. Applications in spectroscopy; 9. Coherent and squeezed states of the electromagnetic field.
The project is partly financed by a grant from The Danish Natural Sciences Research Council (SNF).
