Description

Objective of Research Visit: Neural networks for signal processing.
The inspiration for the objective was the very sparse description of the perspectives of the area “Neural networks for signal processing” in Bernard Widrow, Editor, “DARPA Neural Network Study”, AFCEA International Press, ISBN 0-916159-17-5, 1988.
In 1991 April/May - one month stay at Department of Electrical Engineering, Princeton University, within “Neural Networks for Signal Processing” identified by the undersigned as a candidate area for further research. In the next years research work then followed at DTU, among others in a sequence of PhD studies.
Furthermore a sequence of international workshops on “Neural Networks for Signal Processing” of IEEE Signal Processing Society organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society Technical Committee on “Neural Networks for Signal Processing” followed, with a First workshop on “Neural Networks for Signal Processing” at Princeton University September 30- October 2, 1991 and the Second workshop was held August 31 – September 2, 1992 in Denmark organized by the IEEE Signal Processing Society Technical Committee on Neural Networks for Signal Processing (IEEE TC NNSP) Founded in 1991.
In the following years The IEEE Signal Processing Society Technical Committee on Neural Networks for Signal processing organized annual workshops until 2004 when the name changed into TC Machine Learning for Signal Processing (TC MLSP).
