    Project Details

    Description

An increased interest for solid matter in the colloidal size range (1 nm to 1 µm) in natural watrs has been arisen during the last decade. This is due to observations of their contribution to transport, redistribution and bioavailability of
numerous chemical compounds in the aquatic environment. There is, however, lacks of knowledge about the colloidal
phase, e.g. concerning temporal variations in concentration, size distribution and composition, although
these characteristics would have large impact on both transport and The objectives of this project is to determine the natural variation within the colloidal phase, with respect to concentration, size distribution, main and trace composition, in a small surface water system over the year.

The project is financed from the Swedish Environmental Protection Board and the grants are administrated by Department of Water and Environmental Studies, Linköping University, Sweden.
