Project Details

Description

Antimicrobial resistance is one of our greatest public health problems. Especially the emergence of Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing bacteria are considered some of the main problems. Several studies have shown that food animals can be a reservoir for these bacteria.

The occurrence, spread and factors of importance herefore in Denmark are not known, which makes it difficult to determine intervention strategies.

This project will determine the occurrence and spread of ESBL and MRSA in the Danish pig production and examine the most important risk factors.
