Project Details
Description
The goal of this project is to explore ways to overcome the predicted fast-approaching shortage of communication bandwidth in single mode optical fibers by using mode division multiplexing in multimode fibers. The project consists of theoretical analyses, emphasizing the capacity limits imposed by nonlinear transmission impairments, as well as supporting experimental demonstrations of mode division multiplexing long haul transmission.
