Description
Mistra SafeChem 2 is the second phase of the Mistra SafeChem research programme for green and sustainable chemical industry. This programme is funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research. The vision of the Mistra SafeChem programme is to enable and promote the expansion and implementation of a safe, sustainable and green chemical industry. The programme has been developed both with the 12 principles of green chemistry as its foundation and by combining the potentials of innovative research into new manufacturing processes, novel tools for hazard and risk screening, chemical substitution, life cycle assessment, as well as chemicals and materials management. The programme also links to the EU's Chemicals Sustainability Strategy (CSS) mainly by developing and testing tools for the assessment of chemicals and materials in relation to the safe and sustainable by design (SSbD) framework.
Phase 1 of the Mistra SafeChem programme was completed in 2024.
