Description
MCrAlY coatings are applied to surfaces of gas turbine blades fabricated from superalloys. The coatings provide high temperature oxidation resistance and to some extent also wear resistance. Coating degradation including interdiffusion with the substrate and cracking at the surface are evaluated microstructurally and using thermodynamic modelling
