Project Details
Description
The Department of Electromagnetic Systems has participated in the MCM-project by developing numerical models for design of integrated optical components for use in telecommunications. This has been done for a number of passive integrated components: S-bends, power splitters like an Y-splitter and a MMI-type splitter and a directional coupler. Here a finite difference beam propagation method has been used as numerical tool except in the case for the MMI-type splitter.
Further design of a ring resonator has been carried out and the influence of non-quadratic core dimensions (trapeze shaped) in a 3-dB coupler has been modelled and investigated.
