Project Details
Description
The project is part of the MALOBIC (Machine Learning Assessment of Causes of the
Children Obesity Epidemic) initiative funded by the Novo Nordisk Fondation.
The MALOBIC project aims to systematically explores potential underlying causes of obesity in children, adolescents, and young adults in Denmark and the United States by applaying machine learning and statistical methods.
The research will be carried out in two phases. The first phase entails a broad investigation of various potential causes of obesity using cross-sectional data to uncover both new and known associations. In the second phase, the focus will shift to a selected set of factors, with longitudinal analyses used to evaluate their plausibility and impact.
Ultimately, the project aims to unravel the complex interactions between genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that contribute to obesity, with the goal of identifying modifiable determinants that can guide effective interventions.
