Project Details
Description
The main objective of the LOTUS project is to develop a method of communicating with a number of monitoring instruments deployed in a wide area of the ocean, where range is much greater than water depth. The instruments could be either stationary on the sea-bed of drifting. The network will use acoustic communications. Innovation in signal processing and transducer technology, coupled with packet store-and-forward methods, will result in greater range, data rate and reliability.
