Description
Running tests of the usefulness of industrial lipases in organic synthesis.
Resolution of Cyclic Carboxylic Acids using Candida antarctica Lipase B CALB) as a catalyst:
Resolution of 6- and 5-ring O, N, and S heterocyclic carboxylic acids gave mixed results. Thiolane-2-carboxylic acid was obtained in 88% ee at 50% conversion as the most favorable case.
Resolution of Alcohols using CALB:
A range of chiral primary alcohols were investigated. In all cases, poor enantioselectivity was observed.
