Project Details
Description
This project will develop a length-based State-Space Assessment Model (LSAM), which is based on the same rigorous statistical principles as the age-based SAM (used for the assessment of the status and development of a wide range of stocks in ICES). This model is requested for several stocks where reliable age readings are not available. Therefore, the model will be applied to these stocks (European lobster, European seabass, mackerel, and whiting), and the results will be used in upcoming benchmark meetings. Additionally, certain stocks face challenges regarding age readings, and there are calibration studies and data sets available. To utilize this information, the existing SAM model will be expanded to incorporate such additional data. This model extension will be applied to the Northeast Atlantic mackerel stock and presented at the upcoming benchmark.
