Laser Ablation and Spectroscopy for Eco-friendly Removal of Coatings, Lower Emissions, ANd Recycling

Project Details

Description

The goal of the project is to develop, demonstrate, and analyze laser-based cleaning of ship paints as a green alternative to sand blasting. The project is a collaboration between DTU Electro and Hempel Growhub with financial suppport from The Danish Maritime Fund (project no. 2022-054).

Key findings

- Demonstration of handheld laser-cleaning system at Fayard shipyard on Funen
- Laser-induced plasma analysis (LIBS)
- Spectroscopic analysis of particles and waste products (ATR-FTIR)
