Project Details
Description
Alternative dumping techniques and handling of dredged material must be explored as part of reducing the overall effect of dumping of dredged material in the marine environment. The initiative is an analysis of the existing knowledge in the area, and will result in a catalog of alternative dumping techniques. Results from the project will be applicable for dumping that takes place in the future. The project must also uncover possible alternative handling of dredged material. Results from the project will also be used under HELCOM's regional action plan, which includes an initiative to reduce the environmental impacts of dumping by making use of the best available techniques. Finally, the project will deliver a set of recommendations for future administrative handling of applications for dumping.
