    Project Details

An experiment with democratically organized cooperation, production and product development in the fishing industry. Researchers, technicians and unskilled workers cooperate in new egalitarian ways.
The experiment is the last phase in a project starting back in 1989.
A cooperative of 8-9 female workers was established on the harbour in Esbjerg. During the last year (aug 95-aug 96)the work has focussed on product development, cooperation with consumers - and workers' education.
The project is now finished. A planned continuation and extension had to be cancelled because of failing financing.
The year aug 95 - aug 96 has been financed by the Fishing Ministry (Føtek), The Administration of the Labour Market (Mål 4 midler) and the Ministry of Education.
During 1996 one report on the experiment has been submitted, and two articles on the project have been published. At the moment we are working on a comprehensive report on the project.
Fellow researchers: Kurt Aagaard Nielsen, University of Roskilde and Birger Steen Nielsen, Royal Danish School of Educational Studies.
The project was established in cooperation with KAD (Union of unskilled female workers in Denmark)
