Description

The IEA Wind Task 45 is an international network focused on wind turbine blade recycling. We discuss key issues shared by everyone and establish consensus on how to address them. Our discussions are not only related to the technical challenges but also the logistical aspects, data and information management, life cycle perspectives, and policy considerations.

During the first phase of the IEA Wind Task 45, we achieved 3 key results:
- Key result #1 A list of actions to transform recycling technologies into functional value chain
- Key result #2 Design strategies for future blades taking into consideration recycling needs
- Key result #3 Proposals to promote recycling of blades through policies

The second phase of the IEA Wind Task 45 will answer the following questions:
. How can we improve wind turbine blade waste prediction?
. What is the data needed for recycling and how to ensure it is available?
. Is there an optimal way to promote recycling with policies?
. What are the costs involved at end-of-life and how to calculate them?
. Can we create a technology roadmap supporting the development of recycling solutions?
. Can we formulate international recommended practices to facilitate the implementation of wind turbine blade recycling?
